About the word "Hot" (「辛い」という言葉について)

I ate hot spicy miso ramen for lunch. It was so good! The restaurant says it came from Hokkaido.
お昼に旨辛味噌ラーメンを食べました。とてもおいしかったです! お店は北海道から来たそうです。

In English, “hot” has two confusing meanings: the opposite of cold and spicy. As for in Japanese, the kanji 辛い has two different meanings and pronunciations: からい (spicy) and つらい (tough).

Did people in old era hold a grudge or something against “hot”?🤔
