Big clean up （大掃除）

Today’s morning, I did oosouji (In English, big clean up?).
今朝は大掃除をしました。

In Japan, people clean their places well in the end of year. Purifying the places makes us refresh, and we can have a fresh new year. So we clean everywhere especially the places we don’t clean often.
日本では年末に家や職場をきれいに掃除します。場所を清めるという行為は気分をリフレッシュさせ、新年を気持ちよく迎える働きがあります。なのでいろいろなところ、特に普段掃除しない場所を掃除します。

In my case, I cleaned up the windows of my room and my keyboard.
私の場合、部屋の窓とキーボードをきれいにしました。

I don’t know whether there are similar cultures in other countries. Do you have a culture like this in your country?
